What is Yule? Yule is a celebration of Light
Yule is a 12 day long celebration that starts on the eve of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and ends with the new calendar year. It officially starts on the Sun's shortest path through the sky - December 21st and ends on Jan 1st.
What religion is Yule associated with?
Yule is not associated with any specific religion, but many religions find their traditions linked to Yule activities and symbols. Yule is one of the oldest winter solstice festivals dating back thousands of years; although celebrated all across Europe, it's best known origins is in the ancient Norse festival called jol.
Why Celebrate Yule?
For many families Christmas has been lost in the consumer driven world around us. Many of us are craving connection, hope, joy and purpose. By getting back to our roots through the celebration of Yule we can find the 'reason' for the season.
