5 Minutes to Joy
Recently I have gone through a time in my life that I was really struggling with joy. Even the holiday season didn't lift me up, as a mater of fact I spent Christmas feeling quite sick and had to cancel plans. Very disappointing and depressing.
Usually January I get busy seeing clients and creating programs or projects, networking starts up and life gets going, but this year was different. This year I felt stale, bored and unmotivated. This year I watched way too much news, spent way to many hours on social media and procrastinated on everything to the point of frustrating everyone else around me.
As a spiritual teacher and coach people expect me to be lovey and uplifting, especially since my message is how amazing these days are as we experience history in the making through this soul evolution of humanity. The more I didn't feel joyful, hopeful or motivated the more I felt like I was letting people down, I felt in-authentic which is the last thing I want to be.
By February I was really lamenting to myself, my family and a few friends about my mood. Then one day a client reached out to me by messenger asking for help and describing the very same feelings I was experiencing. Of course the Spiritual Coach in me took over and out came all this wisdom. As I taught her the skills to calm her depression, relieve her anxiety and find her joy again I realized I needed to do the same for myself.
Funny how Spirit works. Sometimes the messages come directly but more often messages come through conversations, books, music, signs or some other seemingly random way.

Below I have included a list of things experts recommend for improved mental health, all of which are very good and I highly recommend. But before you add all that activity and 'to do' stuff I want to share with you an easier, quicker and more effective method. This is the 5 minutes to Joy exercise from my program Heart Harmony Solution. The Heart Harmony Solution is based on the scientific study of the interconnection between biology, emotions and thoughts.
In this five minute technique you will begin to transform your life; your body will transition from fear based fight or flight and relax into the expanded, uplifting feelings of the love vibration. Five minutes once or twice a day will have you relaxed, clear thinking, happy and sleeping soundly.
If you could find the time to do this technique for 10 -20 minutes two or three times a day the changes will manifest much faster and in greater rewards such as increased cognitive abilities, over 1400 biochemical reactions improving health and longevity, and increase in overall life satisfaction and joy. - Spending time with friends /family
- Indulge in a hobby
- Get a pet
- Take a vacation
- Turn off the TV
- Adjust work or commute to allow more family time
- Volunteer in your community or with a church
